Vote Online for Gun Runner as Breeders’ Cup Classic Moment of the Year

There were many memorable moments during the 2017 horse racing season both on and off the track. Gun Runner provided a thrill to horse racing fans when he overpowered the best horses in training to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar in wire-to-wire fashion. Now fans can vote for Gun Runner through social media as the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NYRA) opened voting this week for its 2017 Moment of the Year. A winner to be announced at the 47th Eclipse Awards set for later this month at Gulfstream Park.

There are 13 nominees on the ballot, and you can retweet NTRA’s original posting of each horse and nominee, or by using the corresponding hashtag for each nominee listed below.

Gun Runner is an 11-time winner with nearly $9 million in career earnings and likely Horse of the Year for 2017. Gun Runner is nominated for his 2017 Breeders’ Cup Classic victory at Del Mar, his fourth straight victory to close 2017 with a 5-1-0 record in six starts. Gun Runner is currently prepping for the $16 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational Jan. 27 at Gulfstream Park.

Also nominated for Moment of the Year is Arrogate for two of his awe-inspiring victories in 2017 – the $10 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan and the $12 million Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream, part of his 7-race winning streak that ended in July at Del Mar. Arrogate finished 5th as the betting favorite behind Gun Runner at the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Classic after winning the BC Classic in 2016. Arrogate has 7 career wins in 11 starts with a North American-record earnings of $17,422,600.
